Mail feature working only partially

Just upgraded to TikiWiki 5.0 beta 2 from 4.2
On both versions I'm not able to log as a normal user, since I get message "You did not validate your account ", "You should have received an email. Check your mailbox and your spam box. Otherwise click on the button to resend the email ".
The problem is I'm not able to make mail feature work, so I cannot validate user accounts.
Instead, notification mails are sent automatically once a wiki page is updated, but not after user's creation.
I'm using SMTP, not Sendmail.
Any clue? confused

Hi pava_rulez, welcome to Tikiwiki community, and thanks for testing this beta!

No idea (myself) how to properly solve it (I hope others can fix it properly), but I guess that you can (as a temporary workaround) go to your database through phpmyadmin, check tiki_users table, and find out that those users which need validation have in one of the last columns some value different from the rest of users (a "1" instead of NULL, I seem to recall). check that, and fix that by hand (at your own risk) at the database level.

I did myself and it worked for me some time ago, so this workaround should still be valid in 5.0beta if nothing else works for you.

A fix was done recently r25378 2010-02-18 Be sure you have the fix. Befopre smtpo was only working for wiki page notif.

in admin->general log the mail, to be sure the mail goes out tikiwiki. Then check in your mail log if you have access

Otherwise as xavi said - at your own risk... if you empty the column waiting in users_users table, it should work....

Hi. I'm trying to upgrade from version 3.0 to 5.1, and I am having a similar problem to pava_rulez. I can login as admin, but if I try and log in as a normal user, I get 2 error messages:

Error:
You did not validate your account.
Error:
You should have received an email. Check your mailbox and your spam box. Otherwise click on the button to resend the email.

First, I don't want all of my users to have to revalidate accounts. Secondly, if I hit the resend but, I eventually do get a validation e-mail; however, it does not actually re-validate my account.

Are there any thoughts on this?

Thanks.
