Looking for hosting for tikiwiki 13

Hi, (I hope to be in the correct forum ... )

I have tried a hosting to install tikiwiki 13 that gives me the following errors. Could somebody recommend me some cheap provider to be used in Spain that holds well tikiwiki 13?

Thanks.

Javi.

PHP scripting language properties:

  • memory_limit -> bad -> 64M -> Your memory_limit is at 64M. This is known to cause issues! You should raise your memory_limit to at least 128M, which is the default of PHP.
  • default_charset -> ugly -> default_charset should be UTF-8 as Tiki is fully UTF-8. Please check your php.ini.
  • max_execution_time -> bad -> 20s -> Your max_execution_time is at 20. It is likely that some scripts, e.g. admin functions will not finish in this time! You should raise your max_execution_time to at least 30s.
  • max_input_time -> bad -> 20s -> Your max_input_time is at 20. It is likely that some scripts, e.g. admin functions will not finish in this time! You should raise your max_input_time to at least 30 seconds.
  • upload_max_filesize -> ugly ->2M -> Your upload_max_filesize is at 2M. Nothing wrong with that, but some users might want to upload something bigger.

post_max_size: -> ugly -> 2M -> Your post_max_size is at 2M. Nothing wrong with that, but some users might want to upload something bigger.

  • PHP security properties -> upload_tmp_dir -> unknown -> Can't reliably determine, if your upload_tmp_dir is accessible via a web browser. To make sure you should check your webserver config.

Hi Javi,

I do not know a privider in Spain, but we could ask Xavi from Barcelona (I will send him a link to this forum post).

I know a german provider who offers English language mail support and English language Control Center (24 hr phone support only in German language so far).

They are quite good and provided the midsized contract they offer a lot of space, ssh access (not root, as it is shared hosting, but enough for every day live including .sh scripts and a number of cron jobs).

I like aswell the opportunity to setup subaccounts etc. ...

Save, fast enough, good competent service, always early enough PHP upgrades, ...

Hi Javi:

I have no clue about "cheap" service providers. When I used "shared hosting", I did use Pangea ( https://pangea.org ), which is not the cheapest but it's promoting ethical and solidarity hosting, which helps/supports many ngo's, etc. and is Based in Barcelona, with good infraestructure, etc.

Something similar, for ngo's and social movements, is provided by nodo50: http://nodo50.org/ , probably based in Madrid.

Another approach is to hire your own virtual server, and then, you get there as many tikis as you like (you do your own setup of the apache, mysql, php, servers, there are useful guides in the internet). And some of us use ISPConfig as a free/open source control panel to help us manage the whole server, create websites, etc.

~~

Most of the virtual servers I co-administrate are in Dimensis, which is a company based in Tarragona (also supporting communities using community currencies, and more sustainable local economies, etc., but you can pay them in euros, of course, also: http://dimensis.com ).

I hope this helps! :-)

Cheers, and welcome to the Tiki Community!

P.S: btw, did you know that there is a Spanish forum also ;-) :

Thanks Torsten and Xavi!

I'll see the options you mention.
